Bread Uttapam..

                            Bread Uttapam-

This is a quick and instant uttapam made with bread that does not need any planning or preparation like soaking rice and dal, grinding, fermenting etc

This bread uttapam can also be served as an after school snacks and lunch box also.

Prep Time - 10 mins
Cook Time- 10 mins
 Serve- 2-3 persons



   Bread - 4 slices (brown or white)( I use white bread)
   Rava/Semolina - 1/2 cup
   Curd - 1/2 cup
   All purpose flour/maida - 1 tbsp
   Rice flour - 1 tbsp
   Water - 1/2 cup
   Salt as needed

   Ginger - 3/4 tsp grated or paste
   Onion - 3 tbsp chopped
   Carrot - 2 tbsp grated
   Green chilli - 1 finely chopped
   Tomato - 1 tbsp (seeded and chopped)
   Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp finely chopped
   Oil for making Uttapm

( you can use other veggies also like spinach, cabbage, capsicum, corn Etc.) 


Finely chop onion and green chillies. (you can avoid green chillies for kids). Grate carrot and keep it ready.

take the all bread slices into small or medium pieces.

In a blender, add the bread pieces, curd, semolina (sooji), ginger paste, rice flour, all purpose flour/maida, water and salt needed.

Blend to a fine paste. Pour the batter in a  bowl. The consistency of the batter should neither be too thick nor thin. Add onion, green chilli, carrot, coriander leaves, tomato and mix well.

Heat a tawa and pour a ladle of batter. You cannot spread this batter like the regular Dosa.

Drizzle 1/2 tsp of oil around the uttapam. After cooked one side , flip it over to the other side, add another 1/2 tsp of oil and cook until golden brown.

Serve bread uttapam hot with Curd, green chutney or  tomato ketchup.

Bread Dosa...

                               Bread Dosa-

This is a quick and instant dosa made with bread that does not need any planning or preparation like soaking rice and dal, grinding, fermenting etc
Prep Time - 15 mins
Cook Time - 20 mins
Bread dosa
Servings - 3-4 persons


White bread slices – 8-10
Semolina or rava – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 2 teaspoons
Curd – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste


Oil – 2 tablespoons
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds (jeera) – 1/4 teaspoon
Green chillies – 2 (chopped finely)
Urad dal – 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped coriander leaves  – 2 tablespoons


Take the bread slices and trim the edges of the bread.  Grind the bread slices to a fine powder.

Then add semolina, rice flour, curd, (Use slightly sour curd for better taste, as the batter is not fermented.) salt and water and grind to make a batter of dosa consistency. Adjust water accordingly and bring the batter to the dosa consistency Pour the batter in a clean bowl and check for the consistency.  Adjust water and salt accordingly.

Heat oil in a pan.  Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and allow it to crackles.  Add urad dal and saute till light brown. Add green chillies and chopped coriander leaves and sauté for half a minute.  Add this seasoning to the dosa batter and mix well. If you want make dosa more healthier and more tasty   then add chopped onions, grated carrot, cabbage also.

Heat a tawa on a medium flame.  Pour a big spoonful of the batter and spread wide to a medium circle.  Pour oil drops on the top and sides of the dosa and cook for 2-3 minutes.  Flip the dosa on the other side and cook till crisp and light brown. 

Serve bread dosa hot with coconut chutney and  sambhar.

  Bread 4 slices
       Onion 3 tbspn chopped
       Capsicum 3 tbspn chopped
       Tomato 2 tbspn chopped
       Corn (frozen) 2 tbspn
       Grated cheese 4 spoon (as  required)
       Tomato Sauce or pizza sauce
       Oregano for garnishing
       Chili flakes  a pinch
       Pepper powder for seasoning a pinch
       You can use also veggies like carrot, cabbage.


Get all your ingredients ready. First spread a one tbsp of pizza sauce on one side of the bread, now add the chopped onion.

Then add capsicum, tomato, corn and sprinkle pepper powder, oregano and chilli flakes. Grate the cheese such that it covers the all vegetables. Preheat oven at 200 deg C for 10 min. and bake it at the same temperature for 5-7 min. or until the cheese melts.

Garnish with oregano while serving as per your preference.
Serve Hot .

If you are want to use  gas stove then,  Heat the tawa, Toast the bread slice on both the sides with little ghee or oil. After toasting spread the tomato ketchup or pizza sause  vegetable and  cheese. Let it stay in the tawa until the cheese melts a little. Repeat this for one by one  all the bread slices.

Bread Potato Rolls

Bread Potato Rolls-

Bread with potato filling makes a mouthwatering snack. This is a perfect snack with afternoon tea .You can serve as a appetizer.  Bread  Rolls are crunchy outside, spicy and soft inside. Easy to prepare and serve. Its kids favorite snacks.

Preparation Time-20 min.
Cooking Time- 15 min.
Serve 4 member

Make 8 bread rolls

§  8 bread slices
§  2 medium size potatoes boiled peeled and mashed
§  1/4 cup green peas, boiled
§  1 teaspoon oil
§  1/4 teaspn cumin seeds
§  1/2 teaspn salt
§  1/8 teaspn red chili powder
§  1/2 teaspn mango powder (amchoor)
§  1 tabspn coriander leaves  finely chopped
§  1 green chili  minced,  according  to taste
§  1 teaspoon ginger finely chopped
§  Oil to fry

1.    Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the cumin seed. When the cumin seed starts to crackle, add green peas, green chili, and ginger, and stir for a few seconds.
2.    Add the potatoes and all the spices chili powder, mango powder, salt, and coriander leaves  and stir-fry for a minute. Turn off the heat.
3.    Taste the mixture; it should be a little spicier than you like, as it will taste milder inside the bread.  Keep aside.
4.    Trim the edges of the all 8 bread slices .
5.    Roll 1 tbspn of the mixture at a time into an oval shape. Make eight rolls.
6.    Fill a small bowl with water to wet the bread. Dip one side of a slice of the bread lightly in the water. Place the slice between your palms and press, squeezing out the excess water.

7.    Place the filling in the center of this bread and mold the bread to completely cover it all around, giving  an oval shape.  Repeat to make all the rolls. Before frying, let them set for 3- 5 min.
8.    Heat the oil in a frying pan on medium high heat. Drop the rolls slowly into it.
9.    Fry the bread rolls until they are golden brown, turn other side. This should take about two to three minutes. After golden brown take them out over a tissue  paper.
10.                       Serve bread rolls hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
